It's 6AM and I'm leaving soon for Jo'burg to play in the MPLD LAN comp with my bestest best buds from Area 52.
I'm really excited about this LAN because there a few good teams in attendance and cod4 lan compos are generally frikkin awesome. I'm going by bus and my dad is picking me up in like 10 minutes, I had 10 minutes to spare as I just finished packing =D
I'm going by bus which is kinda fun but kinda weird, it reminds me of when i used to take a taxi home from school, with the majority of people being from a different class/culture/race. I actually dig it though, South Africa really is a melting pot society and people are mostly very friendly, but often very surprised when I tell them I'm going on an epic gaming trip =D
I haven't slept tonight, spent a lot of time playing Quake Live and CS 1.6 with my good friend from the CS Division, Dane "racno" Friedman who I really like chilling with on mumble. He's an awesome oke and we have some good chats, although I fkn hate losing to him in Quake On that note I plan to sleep on the bus.
Also this weekend I get to meet up with our organisation's great leader, Andreas "cent' Hadji who is the definition of a greek beast. I'm hoping for some more of his mom's awesome cooking, last time it was fantastic. Best meal I have ever eaten.
I really hope we can win this weekend, we had one online praccie which was really good even though max (faith) was lagging a lot. xiR's Pimps are really good on lan when they get momentum and I won't be underestimating them!!
While being excited, I also feel really grateful and fortunate. Unlike the overseas gameres who are pros and get their trips paid for, I have to pay for my own trips and try to pay for them with prize winnings. This doesn't work out to well if I don't win and then I have to be in debt to my dad which really really sucks. But back to being grateful, not only is my dad really supportive of my gaming (<3 my dad) but the members of the cod4 community are generally stand-up awesome. I can't actually believe how helpful and kind people are, and I want to say a big thank you to all the people who have opened their homes to me over the last 2 years. You guys know who you are <3
Alright gotta go now, hope you enjoyed reading this and I'll try keep the bvd site updated with news of the event asap. I think I read somewhere that roskii from pantheon is gonna be there as well in which case he'll get coverage up before me, so check the p site as well.
one last note, I will be taking a flashie (a flashie not a fleshie gg =D) and will do my best to get some demos up on the bvd site.
Cheers, cya @ MPLD =D
